White linen and silk Gunne Sax Inspired Wedding Dress. The 70s style casual wedding dress is youthful and romantic. Made from a linen-cotton blend, silk gauze, and embroidered silk ribbon. The dress has an empire waist with a sheer bustier bodice. The bodice front is framed with handmade silk ribbon with embroidered lace flowers. The long sleeves are a modest version of the leg o mutton style with a fitted forearm that zip closed. Finished with a floor-length hemline, silk flounce, and macramé pom-pom trim.
This dress is inspired by a black label Gunne Sax Dress that I owned. It was made with a natural muslin skirt and a pink bodice with tapestry ribbon. I created a flat pattern from the dress. The ribbon is handmade using silk dupioni with a layer of lace and hand silk yarn embroidery. I have a limited supply of the vintage pom-pom trim that is incorporated around the lace. This linen-cotton has a light texture with a crisp drape. Not your traditional bridal fabrics but they complement each other and in result offer much more pleasure to your day. It’s a playful victorian dress that is sexy and modest. Fit for young brides, minimalist brides, and bohemian brides.
